GATS: The “GREAT AMERICAN” TRADING SWAP!
“GATS” is a NATIONAL MOVEMENT that mobilizes towns,
churches, and volunteers to host clothing swaps that will
benefit families with children in their communities.
What is a “GATS” TRADING SWAP? It is an event where
families are able to donate, trade, or purchase family
clothing and essential items such as car seats, sporting
equipment, etc.
The concept is simple, for each bag or item they donate, they
can get a bag or item in return! If they don’t have anything
to TRADE, they can purchase an empty bag for a set amount
and fill it!
The first GREAT AMERICAN TRADING SWAP is officially set for
the 3rd weekend in September, SEPTEMBER 16th– 18th
2011. In this way communities all over our great nation will
be hosting “swaps” at the same time. Your team may choose
one day, or the entire weekend to host your swap. Your site
and dates will be listed on our WEBSITE PAGE when you
register with us.
HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED:
FORM A TEAM: Get your core group together, secure a
location that is available the weekend of September 16th-
18th, and register your site by downloading our
registration form.
Once you mail in your registration form and $25.00 fee you
will have access to lots of helpful materials and support that
will make your swap a success! We will also list you on our
site map!
JOIN AN EXISTING TEAM: Once sites are listed on our website, volunteers will be able to join a swap team near their home. We will list more detailed information about each site. Volunteers will be able to contact site leaders directly on how they can help at your swap.
Your efforts will help struggling AMERICAN FAMILIES and give them the tools they need to get ahead! If you happen to run or support a food pantry in your community, this would also be a great time to host a FOOD DRIVE as well! There are many donors out there who want to give, but they just need to know it is going to a worthy cause! Food and Clothing...you can’t get any more basic than that!
